Aloha, Beautiful People!
Excited to share insights from our recent vision board session. It was such an inspiring time connecting and exploring the power of intentional manifestation. Many of us have dabbled with vision boards, but how many of us truly tap into their transformative potential?
Today, I want to tap into creating vision boards with intention, using the Wheel of Life as our guide, and share some tips and advice for making this a powerful tool for your holistic well-being.
Reflecting on 2024
2024 was quite a year? I know we all experienced amazing highs and some challenging lows. In my own reflection, while I had goals, I realized I wasn’t always intentional in pursuing them. This led me to understand the importance of practicing what we preach. As someone who works with and encourages others, I encourage you to be intentional, set goals, and break them down. Yet, last year, I wasn’t fully embodying that.
I have been wondering what’s holding me behind. Among all things that are obvious - life in general, family obligations, uncertainties - I’ve been holding back.
So, now I’m recommitting to intentionality, and the vision board is a key part of that journey.
The Power of a Vision Board
Five years ago, I created a vision board with a 3- to 5-year vision. And guess what? Everything on it came true (well, with the exception of maybe 3 or 4 things…) ! I believe it did because it wasn’t just a random collection of pretty pictures, but rather a deeply intentional manifestation of my true self. Through trial and error, and integrating concepts like the Wheel of Life and law of attraction, I’ve refined my approach further. So this year, as I’ve embarked on creating my new vision board I’m using:
The Wheel of Life: A Holistic Approach
The Wheel of Life is a profound concept that goes back thousands of years. If we don’t take the time to examine our lives through this lens, our efforts can become sporadic. The Wheel of Life encourages us to look at all aspects of our lives:
Health: Physical well-being is the foundation.
Spiritual Growth: Nurturing your inner self.
Professional Life: Career and professional growth.
Family and Friends: The relationships that support you.
Romantic Life & Sexuality: Intimacy and connection.
Creativity and Learning: Essential for a fulfilling life.
Finances: Ensuring stability and abundance.
The Hawaiian Wheel of Life, Lokahi, also considers connection to the earth, something that I’ve come to deeply appreciate living here in Hawaii. By assessing each area, we can create a truly balanced vision that addresses our holistic needs.
Creating Your Vision Board with Intention
Here are some tips for creating an intentional vision board:
Self-Reflection: Before you even pick up a magazine to cut up, spend time in self-reflection. Ask yourself:
Am I living in alignment with my values?
What are my strengths, and how can I leverage them?
Where do I feel stuck, and what steps can I take to grow?
What am I grateful for?
What brings me joy, and how can I cultivate more of it?
Gather Your Tools: You’ll need a pencil, paper, and any materials that resonate with you—magazines, photos, tokens, and personal items. For the board itself, you can go as simple as a poster board from a stationary store or Amazon, four/six pieces of blank paper taped together OR a newspaper (two?) open in the middle. One thing: I believe it has to be a “board”, meaning it shouldn’t be small.
Go Beyond Pictures: Don’t just cut and paste images. Include personal items like tickets, cards, or small objects that symbolize your goals, feelings and aspirations.
Make It Visible: Place your vision board where you’ll see it every day, several times a day. This engages your brain’s reticular activation system, reminding you of your intentions. (If you are a private person, like me, put it in a place that you frequent but others don’t)
Embrace the Process: This isn’t a one-hour activity. Spend a week or two reflecting and refining your board. Let it evolve as you do.
Connect with the Earth: While envisioning your board, consider your connection to the Earth and how you can nurture it, regardless of your geographical location.
Addressing Challenges
It’s common to feel that vision boards “don’t work” when we forget about them. To avoid this:
Keep it visible, so you see it every single day.
Revisit regularly: Take time to review and reflect on your board.
Align with your values: Ensure your vision board reflects your core desires, not just societal expectations.
Final Thoughts
Life is unpredictable, but having a visual representation of your aspirations, goals and dreams - a vision board - helps us navigate with intention. It’s not just about the things we want; it’s about how we want to feel. By focusing on our core values and authentic desires, we can create a life that truly lights us up. I encourage you to embark on this journey of self-reflection and intentional creation. Let’s make this year a year of living in alignment with our true selves! Because each one of us deserves it.
With much Aloha,
Olga Miller
